George Bolton Swimming Centre Burnside
Main pool and grounds
The Centre has taken back its original name ...
George Bolton was Mayor of Burnside 1952-54 and 1962-67. Despite much public disapproval he eventually won the fight to build the pool in Hazelwood Park and in 1966, the pool was opened and named in his honour. The official name of the complex was the George Bolton Swimming Centre Burnside, but over the years it has come to be known as the Burnside Swimming Centre. At the council meeting on 8 July 2014 Council moved a motion to return to the original name - the George Bolton Swimming Centre Burnside.
Please Note: The Centre is now CLOSED due to the Centre Redevelopment.
The swimming centre will be officially opened on Australia Day, Monday 26 January.
