Family Connections

The Family Connections program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.

The Family Connections program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.

The City of Burnside supports the Family Connections Project, working in partnership with the Cities of Unley and Norwood Payneham and St. Peters. The project commenced at the City of Burnside in October 2005.

The Family Connections program delivers a range of integrated services that support families with children aged up to 12 years. The program is designed to improve children's wellbeing, development and safety and to enhance family functioning, with a particular focus on researching the needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged families within our community.

Programs are directed at parents/caregivers and include:

  • Free monthly information sessions with a focus on early childhood development, parenting and relationship skills
  • Weekly Playtime programs that encourage age-appropriate social, emotional, developmental and educational experiences
  • Distribution of regular information updates on parenting topics ranging from a synopsis of the latest research to local parenting services and activities
  • Assistance to connect with other services as appropriate.
