ABOUT THE CENTRE...

Pepper Street Arts Centre is a lively arts environment supporting creative endeavour and excellence, promoting arts appreciation and education, and providing for social engagement across the artistic and wider community.

Formerly the Magill School, the Pepper Street Arts Centre is part of the City of Burnside's cultural program.

All welcome, free entry.

Open Hours: Tuesday to Saturday 12 noon - 5 pm
Closed Easter Long Weekend and ANZAC Day

The Centre offers:

  • Exhibitions held monthly;
  • Gift Shop offering high quality work from South Australian artists and craftsworkers;
  • Art Classes in the June Colligan Artist's Studio;
  • The Pepper Club - become a member of Pepper Street Arts Centre and receive a wide range of benefits!
  • Pepper News is available from the Centre and other council venues for bimonthly information about all Pepper Street programs.
  • Dorrit's Coffee Shop;
  • A Weaver-In-Residence;
  • The Magill Indigenous Garden;
  • Shirley Cameron Wilson Local Art History and Meeting Room for quiet use & hire;
  • Art books and magazines for loan.

Volunteer Opportunities Available

We have an active group of volunteers who assist in the day to day duties of Pepper Street Arts Centre during open hours. If you are interested in art, would enjoy contributing to a busy environment, and are self motivated this could be the place for you.

Pepper Street Arts Centre is celebrating its 16th year as the cultural hub of Burnside.

Listen Up!

Come and relax in Dorrit's Coffee shop with a drink and listen to the recorded oral histories from the Pepper Street community.  Listen to artists through the comfortable headphones as they recall their first forays into art as well as engaging recordings of talks on artist past and present.  The Listen Up audio is available to listen to everyday in Dorrit's Coffee Shop.  The Listen Up project is part of the ongoing Sweet 16 celebrations at Pepper Street Arts Centre.  Pepper Street thanks Peter Hackworth for his donated time and energy.

Community Weaving Project

Fridays, 12.20 - 3.30 pm

Drop into the centre every Friday and help make our community tapestry come to life.  Learn basic weaving skills from our fibre artists Elly and Wilma as we make a tapestry to be hung in the centre.  No bookings required!
