SWEET 16! 

Pepper Street Arts Centre is celebrating its 16th year as the cultural hub of Burnside.
To mark the occasion the centre will be hosting a wide range of activities for the whole community!

Celebration Lantern Making

Wednesday, 25 January 11.00 am - 1.00 pm

Create a celebration lantern using japanese dyeing techniques and take home your finished work with pride. No experience needed.

Fee: $10 per person or $16 per pair. All materials provided. Bookings essential!

Suitable for adults and children 8+ (8-13 years to be accompanied by an adult)

Weave it, beret style

Friday 27, January 10.00 am - 12.00 pm

Make a funky woolen beret. Simple design. Easy to learn. Take home to continue. Send us a picture for our facebook photo wall!

Fee: $10 per person or $16 per pair. All materials provided. Bookings essential!

Suitable for adults and children 8+ (8-13 years to be accompanied by an adult)

 Community Mosaic Art Project

Saturday 28, January 10.00 am - 12.00 pm

Learn mosaic and make your mark on our community mosiac project! take part as we create a beutiful mosaiced sign for our garden.  Free to participate.  Bookings essential!

 Community Weaving Project

Fridays, 12.20 - 3.30 pm

Drop into the centre every friday and help make our community tapestry come to life.  Learn basic weaving skills from our fibre artists Elly and Wilma as we make a tapestry to be hung in the centre.  No bookings required!

ABOUT THE CENTRE...

Pepper Street Arts Centre is a lively arts environment supporting creative endeavour and excellence, promoting arts appreciation and education, and providing for social engagement across the artistic and wider community.

Formerly the Magill School, the Pepper Street Arts Centre is part of the City of Burnside's cultural program.

Entry is free and the ambience is friendly!

  • Gift Shop offering high quality work from South Australian artists and craftsworkers;
  • Art Classes in the June Colligan Artist's Studio;

  • Pepper News is available from the Centre and other council venues for bimonthly information about all Pepper Street programs.
  • Dorrit's Coffee Shop;
  • A Weaver-In-Residence;
  • The Magill Indigenous Garden;
  • Shirley Cameron Wilson Local Art History and Meeting Room for quiet use & hire;
  • Art books and magazines for internal loan.

Volunteer Opportunities Available

We have an active group of volunteers who assist in the day to day duties of Pepper Street Arts Centre during open hours. If you are interested in art, would enjoy contributing to a busy environment, and are self motivated this could be the place for you.
