Local History

A collection of material relating to the history of Burnside and South Australia is housed in the Burnside Library. The collection consists of photographs, maps, drawings, newspaper clippings, video and audio tapes, books and unpublished manuscripts.

Access is available during library opening hours

Specialist assistance is available on Wednesday and Friday afternoons 1.00pm - 5.00pm.

Burnside Historical Society

The Burnside Historical Society Inc. is a community group comprising people with an interest in Burnside's history. Each month a guest speaker presents a talk on some aspect of Burnside's or South Australia's history, and from time to time outings to areas of historical interest are arranged for members.

Anyone is welcome to attend meetings, which are held at 8.00 pm on the third Monday of each month at the Burnside Community Centre, entrance off the car park in Fisher St. Tusmore.
