About

Community Transport Program Brochure(PDF, 667KB)

The City of Burnside Home Support Program offers community and personal transport services, providing local residents with convenient, affordable and safe transport.

These services allow you to keep connected and engaged with your local community and provide you with a reliable form of transport to get to your scheduled appointments.

Your wellbeing is our priority, and as such, our community bus and personal car service drivers are suitably qualified.

Who is eligible?

The City of Burnside Home Support Program transport services are funded by the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP). Eligibility for CHSP funded services is assessed on your support needs and age. To be eligible for services, you must be aged 65 years or older or 50 years or older if you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.

To access services you will need to contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422. My Aged Care will assess which types of services you are eligible for and provide you with approvals for these services. Once you have the approvals you can then choose the City of Burnside as your provider.

It’s important for everyone’s safety that passengers are physically able to get on and off the bus, or in and out of the car, with minimal or no assistance from our volunteers.

How can we help?

Contact us, we are here to listen. Our friendly team is here to answer any questions you might have and connect you with the services you choose.

If you no longer drive, we can offer access to personal car transport for you to attend your medical or health appointments, hairdresser, as well as other personal errands or community activities.

This transport service operates Monday to Friday, between the hours of 9 am and 4.30 pm.

If you need an extra hand while out and about we can organise someone to accompany you at your destination so you can get what you need done quickly and return home safely.

Maybe you need to go to the bank or post office to pay a bill, get something from the shops or have someone wait at the clinic reception while you see your doctor, we can vary the support and service to suit you.

Transport is subject to volunteer availability so please make bookings in advance to avoid disappointment.
