Australia Day and Citizenship Ceremony
The City of Burnside Australia Day Celebration will be held on 26 January in Hazelwood Park which will include a citizenship ceremony, entertainment, brunch and announcement of the Citizen of the Year Award.
Musical entertainment will be provided by the Burnside Youth Concert Band.
Her Worship the Mayor will present awards and confer our new citizens on the day.
Eligibility for citizenship is determined by the Department of Home Affairs who manage all enquiries for becoming an Australian citizen. Citizenship information and application forms are only available from their website. Councils do not have any oversight of eligibility of candidates.

When are Citizenship Ceremonies held?
Australian Federal Government policy advises that Citizenship ceremonies be held by Local Government Councils at regular intervals. At the City of Burnside Council we hold Citizenship Ceremonies on Australia Day and throughout the year as required to welcome new residents into the City.
