Dogs are an important part of our local community but dogs that bark excessively can become a source of irritation for neighbours and others using the local environment.
New laws have come into effect:Microchipping is mandatory.Desexing of all dogs born after 1 July 2018.New rules for breeders who sell dogs.At 3 months of age dogs are required to be registered.
New laws are now in effect: at 3 months of age dogs are required to be registered receiving a lifetime registration disc (replacing the annual disc). The annual registration still occurs.

It is an offence under the Dog and Cat Management Act 1995 for a dog to attack or harass a person or animal.
All councils parks and reserves are off lead areas but dogs must be exercised under effective control as per the Dog and Cat Management Act 1995.
