Fitness in the Parks

A great way to enjoy fitness in our beautiful parks including Bollywood Dance, Box Kick, Qi Gong, Walking, Tone and Strength and Cycling*. All sessions are FREE, with qualified instructors, suitable for all ages and offered in our stunning Burnside parks.
Sessions will run 25 March - 5 May (excludes Public Holidays and Easter Sunday).
MONDAYS: Bollywood Dance 6 pm - 7 pm Miller Reserve. Bollywood dance classes provide a fun, relaxed environment to get active, learn something new and meet new people. Anyone can learn, so get your dancing shoes on and be ready to dance like a Bollywood star!
TUESDAYS: Box Kick 9.30 am - 10.30 am Kensington Gardens Reserve. Box Kick is a fun, outdoor, action filled session combining simple boxing techniques with cardio and strength. This session will burn calories and leave you with a healthy sense of stress relief and wellbeing. No previous experience required and boxing bags will be available to borrow.
THURSDAYS: Qi Gong 10.30 am - 11.30 am Hazelwood Park. Come and try Qi Gong. Sessions include breathing exercises, visualisation, gentle fluid movements based on traditional Chinese medicine to reduce stress and physical tension, as well as bring about a sense of balance, peace and calm. Suitable for all abilities. Qi Gong does not require getting up and down from the ground multiple times, only once to enjoy a final relaxation which alternatively can be done sitting or standing.
FRIDAYS: Walking 8.15 am - 9.15 am Various locations. Join our local Heart Foundation Walking Group and discover the reason why walking is one of the most popular forms of activity in Australia. Walking can help you lose weight, fight stress and raise your energy levels. Walking with others can help keep you motivated and develop healthy habits that will last. Walks are approximately 3-4 km and you just go at your own pace.
SATURDAYS: Tone and Strength 7.30 am - 8.30 am Glenunga Hub, Glenunga. Join in this varied group fitness class suitable for all ages and fitness levels. With a focus on strength and toning, you'll develop functional strength using both body weight and resistance exercises targeting upper body core stability.
SUNDAYS: Cycling* 8 am - 9.30 am from Burnside Town Hall. Been off the bike for a while or a keen new cyclist? Join local Bicycle SA riders to take in some of the most beautiful sites our City and surrounds has to offer. Cycling is a great way to improve your strength and cardiovascular fitness. Rides are approximately a 20 km loop and participants must BYO bike, helmet and puncture kit, plus advise of any relevant medical conditions.
