Host a Garage Sale
Published on 31 August 2016
Burnside households, schools, businesses and community groups are set to join hundreds of thousands of people across the country on Saturday 22 October as part of the national reuse, community and sustainable living movement, Garage Sale Trail.
Join the reuse movement to declutter, make some pocket money and have fun meeting your neighbours. Put your sale on the Garage Sale Trail for free at www.garagesaletrail.com.au.
It’s a great way for community groups, schools and charities to fundraise, as you can make an average $735 - $2,000 on the day.
By participating in Garage Sale Trail you get a sale page on the national map, media coverage of the event and access to free promotional materials to promote your sale locally.
Last year more than 70 residents and groups in the City of Burnside held garage sales on the national day.
CEO Paul Deb said Burnside is proud to be making Garage Sale Trail happen locally to provide residents with a fun way to declutter, meet people from the local area and uncover some unique bargains.
“Garage Sale Trail is a simple idea that encourages people to consider how things can be reused while also providing an opportunity to raise money. The idea of passing on what you don’t want to a new home is truly a great form of sustainability.”
This year Council is holding a free community event for those who would prefer to set up their sale with others, not on their premises.
