Dialogue Exhibition Invite image collage.jpg
An exhibition of works in various media by The Artist's Voice

31 August – 28 September

Opens: Friday 31 August at 6 pm

Opening Speaker: Adam Dutkiewicz, Art Historian

The Artist’s Voice is a collective of Adelaide Hills-based artists who have been working together and exhibiting for 21 years. It was formed in 1997 and is based at the Hahndorf Academy where they exhibit regularly. The group’s intention is to allow local artists to share resources, ideas and enthusiasm and to raise awareness of local art and artists within our community.
Their first exhibition was opened by former Premier Don Dunstan. Since its early days The Artist’s Voice has grown and includes over 80 current and past members. Most members are established artists with many enjoying considerable reputations throughout Australia. Group and solo exhibitions are also held at other venues throughout the state. This year it is holding more exhibitions in the city and suburbs in a further effort to extend the group’s reach beyond their regional enclave.
In this exhibition, titled Dialogue, members present a range of artworks produced in dialogue with each other, concerning their broad ideas about representational and non-objective art, about concepts and forms, aesthetics and expression, and about art history and contemporary directions across various media. They extend an invitation for the public to enter that conversation.
Members are always happy to talk about their work and will be pleased to be approached to discuss it with people at the opening and throughout the exhibition. The selection of work for display will draw on a wide range of media employed by these artists, including painting, printmaking, drawing, textiles, sculpture, ceramics, glass, photography, digital and mixed media.
