“How do we determine the value of life? What drives our food choices, such as vegan, vegetarian and pescatarian diets? For some it is how we respond to the animal itself for emotional, religious or other reasons, for example in the case of mammals. Or it may be a perception of different intelligences across species, the presence of certain features such as eyes, or for example the belief that fish do not have feelings. Why do we respond differently in relation to our food choices? Can the physical being and biology structures of animals contribute to our selection criteria? How are we choosing our food - why don’t we eat our pets? What defines our feelings and morals?
My work is not about giving you an answer but rather I aim to engender a response through my mysterious creatures in the works that may unlock questions in your heart. Perhaps you are the only one who can answer them. I hope my display is thought provoking.”
