Elena Pisakina - Felt

“When I was 9 years old, I wrote an essay in school titled Who I Want to Be. I wrote that I wanted to create gorgeous garments to make people look and feel beautiful. I think that little has changed since.

I am a felting artist. The ancient craft of felting has been practiced by many cultures around the world. For me it was love at first touch and a passion in which I can embody my vision of colours, styles and fashion. I combine ancient techniques with modern style to the level of fine art.

Using natural fibres I create unique and environmentally friendly works through both wet felting and nuno felting. I am inspired at one level by nature, but primarily I am inspired by people. I walk down the street and see a woman coming towards me, a smile on her face, the colour of her eyes, hair in the wind, movement of her eyelashes, and suddenly an image appears in my head for a new creation.

We are all unique and felted garments are not repeatable. Each of my creations has its own personality, theme and mood. My dedication to felting inspires me to create masterpieces for wearers to feel special. I invite you to explore fashion in felting with me.”
