Burnside Painting Group

The Burnside Painting Group Inc. provides a pleasant environment for anyone interested in learning and practicing painting and drawing. Membership is open to beginners and to more experienced painters and enables members to exhibit their work.

The Group organises short courses given by experienced painters at sessions on Mondays from 10 am to 12 noon or Wednesdays from 8 pm to 10 pm. There are monthly social meetings where demonstrations and talks are presented by well-known artists.

Burnside Symphony Orchestra

The Burnside Symphony Orchestra provides the opportunity for amateur musicians to play major works from the symphonic repertoire, and allows aspiring conductors and soloists to gain experience performing with a full symphony orchestra.

Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings in the Town Hall. Concerts are held four times per year in the Burnside Ballroom, often to benefit local charities including Save the Children, Burnside Rotary, Royal District Nursing Society and Sailability.

Ruth Tuck Art School

Established by renowned watercolour artist Ruth Tuck in 1955, the Ruth Tuck Art School continues Ruth's passion for teaching and inspiring young artists by following Ruth's techniques that focus on support, enthusiasm and good quality materials, specialising in watercolour painting and oil pastels.

Term classes, holiday programs, parties and special events for children aged 4+.

Adults watercolour and printmaking classes.
