Overview:
The primary function of this role is to assist library staff with running events and programs for children and families. these programs may be onsite at the Library or Civic Centre or offsite where applicable, eg. At a school, local park, Glenunga Hub, etc. Events and programs include but are not limited to Baby Chat, Storytime. School holiday or after school activities or parenting sessions. Your volunteer role may involve one specific role like Storytime, or you may work across more that one role. If any offsite work is involved your supervisor will advise you of this in advance.
Specific Position Requirements:
- A Police Check is required to be maintained with this position and held current every three (3) years.
- DHS Clearance – Working with Children Check is warranted for this position and held current every three (5) years.
- Participate in mandatory/role specific, refresher/training courses as required (eg. First Aid, CPR and Manual Handling.)
If you are comfortable with the following combination of requirements, this might be for you:
- Work with library staff to set up the library for events - moving furniture, putting out props and materials, preparing refreshments (where applicable) and any other reasonable assistance with the setup of the activity.
- Tick session attendees off from attendance sheets at events and assist with seating them for the event.
- Work as directed by library staff for the duration of the event, eg. serving refreshments or assisting with tasks with a gentle "hands off" guidance approach where possible.
- Offsite work may involve travelling with a library staff member in a Council vehicle.
- Provide assistance and direction to customers as required.
