'In Praise of Australia' is an exhibition of watercolour paintings by Dr John Flett which capture a range of scenes and special moments from across the Australian landscape. Dr Flett has been a prolific painter for many years from his time as a country-based general practice doctor until his nonagenarian years.
Declaring this to be his last exhibition, it is a worthy celebration of not only his long-term arts practice but the large-scale fundraising work that the sales of his paintings have enabled across many exhibitions. From the sale of every painting Dr Flett is donating back to the Little Heroes Foundation in support of their latest project, a robotic rehabilitation and research centre at the Women's and Children's Hospital. Having lost one of his sons to cancer more than 40 years ago, Dr Flett's talent as a painter became his way of contributing to the Little Heroes Foundation. Since 2000 Dr Flett's paintings have contributed more than $50,000 to the Foundation.
"I would be most grateful if people could purchase a painting as the proceeds will help make a significant difference to the lives of children battling cancer and other series illnesses. - Dr John Flett.
