Hazelwood Park

Hazelwood Park is one of Burnside's major reserves. Hazelwood Park has an extensive network of paths with seating, barbecues and 'Wombat Waterhole' playground. A small war memorial is situated near the entrance to the George Bolton Swimming Centre, Adelaide's most picturesque swimming centre.

Hazelwood Park is one of Burnside's major reserves. It is traversed by First Creek and includes natural stands of River Red Gum and SA Blue Gum. Some of the early plantings from the "Hazelwood" garden can be seen near Hawthorn Crescent, including a large Bunya Pine. A small war memorial is situated near the entrance to the George Bolton Swimming Centre Burnside, Adelaide's most picturesque swimming centre. Hazelwood Park has an extensive network of paths with seating, barbecues and playground equipment. The all-access playground caters for children of all ages and abilities, providing a diversity of physical, explorative, interactive and imaginative play opportunities.

The key to the Liberty Swing is available from the Burnside Civic Centre Customer Service desk as well as the George Bolton Swimming Centre Burnside during October to April.

Please note that Hazelwood Park is not available to hire for organised events (aside from wedding ceremonies in two dedicated locations, listed below).

If you are planning a get together in Hazelwood Park

Please be aware that there is By-Law No 3 - Local Government Land(PDF, 788KB) in place to manage this park and that the following activities are not permitted; do not:

Drive or park on the reserve without permission.
Erect marquees, peg shelters into the grass, or fence off areas for exclusive use.
Hold any event or gathering of more than 60 people without permission.
Hold a wedding ceremony without a permit.
Have a wedding reception in the park.
Approach koalas, disturb them in the trees or on the ground.
Detract from the enjoyment of other park users with ball sports or using missiles that affect their gatherings.
Amplify music or other sounds.
Fly any model aircraft.
Practice or play golf.

Wedding Ceremonies

Hazelwood Park is one of the City of Burnside’s most requested parks for weddings. Offering picturesque views, large grassed areas and plenty of shade, Hazelwood Park is the ideal place to pledge your commitment. Ample car parking and a beautiful cobble stone landscaped area overlooking the natural pond provides a great location for a wedding ceremony, or photo opportunity.
