Burnside Swim School

Swim School Characters

The City of Burnside runs a Swim School program from the George Bolton Swimming Centre. Providing a structured, safe, friendly and fun outdoor environment, with heated pools and qualified, supportive instructors. A strong focus of the Swim School is on developing swimming and water safety education and awareness. Students may enrol from 12 months of age, and continue through the learn to swim program, supporting children and adults from beginners through to advanced levels.

The Burnside Swim School teaches swimming and survival strokes, with a focus on water safety. The lessons involve water safety elements in each of the eight levels, as well as dedicated safety weeks where the entire lesson is focused on water safety awareness, activities and education. Our goal is to assist and support all children and adults to be comfortable, confident and safer in and around the water.

Join our friendly and fun swim school, to assist in developing a healthy respect for water. Swim for safety, swim for fun, swim for fitness, swim for life and enjoy all the benefits aquatic environments can offer.

Our Swim School program follows the school terms, operating in Terms 4 and 1 during the outdoor season. The classes run after school hours, Monday to Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

Enrolment Process

With the nature of seasonal swimming at Burnside Swim School, we have a staggered enrolment process in place. 'Current Students' (those enrolled in the most recent term) have first priority to re-enrol into the new term of lessons.

A three phase enrolment process allows families to:

  1. Confirm the SAME class/day/time.
  2. Change to a DIFFERENT class/day/time.
  3. Enrol NEW students into the learn to swim program.

Bookings in a current students' class are reserved for the proceeding term, until the close of Phase 1 (as per enrolment deadline dates, outlined in enrolment phases).

Please note, payment acts as confirmation of the same booking. If you do not confirm your current lesson before the Phase 1 enrolment deadline, it will be assumed cancelled with the position in the program made available to another student.

During Phase 2, current students then have the opportunity to change to a different class/day/time into available spaces. This phase includes movement of students progressing into the next level.

The program will then be opened up for new students to enrol into lessons during Phase 3, with all new bookings being subject to remaining vacancies.

To secure your Swim School booking, term fees must be paid in full at the time of enrolment. If enrolling over the phone, the Centre will accept VISA or MasterCard, if enrolling at the Centre cash, EFTPOS, VISA or MasterCard will be accepted. Cashless transactions preferred.
