Citizenship Ceremonies

Citizenship Ceremony 1 May 2023

The management and procedure of ceremonies is under strict government guidelines and the council must follow procedures set down by the Federal Government. At the City of Burnside Council we hold Citizenship Ceremonies quarterly throughout the year to welcome new citizens into the City.

The Ceremonies are conducted by Mayor Anne Monceaux on behalf of, and under delegation from, the Commonwealth Minister for Home Affairs.

While the City of Burnside hosts Australian Citizenship Ceremonies, the Council is unable to provide further information regarding the timing of Ceremonies for new citizens. Citizenship Applicants will receive a written invitation to their ceremony directly from the Department of Home Affairs within three to six months of their application approval.  All Citizenship Ceremony enquiries should be directed to the Citizenship Information Line on 131 880.
