Recent Projects

Intergenerational Project, Aged Care and Housing Group (ACH Group) and Burnside Primary School Year 6

Participants from both groups met weekly at Pepper Street Arts Centre with artist Helen Favretto to develop 7 painted totem poles and artist Luna Parrish to develop a mosaic bird bath and three stepping stones. All images depict local native flora and fauna. The completed art works are on public show for local community enjoyment at the Chapel Street Community Garden in Magill, the Burnside Primary School, the ACH residential facility 'Milpara' in Campbelltown and on the corner of the Pepper Street Arts Centre entrance garden. Funding was provided by ACH with venue and staff support provided by the Pepper Street Arts Centre.

Burnside Lions Digital Images project

As part of a large scale project initiated by the Burnside Lions to bring a series of digital screens containing images of Burnside activity to local aged care facilities. The Pepper Street Arts Centre developed one of the slideshows to represent arts activity in the Burnside area, including images of artists, their artwork, and people of all ages participating in arts at the Centre. A key overall aim of the project is to bring enjoyment to residents of the aged care facilities, support the Lifestyle Coordinators in their work with the residents, and to provide another tool for prompting memory and communication. Funding included support via the City of Burnside community grants project and Pepper Street Arts Centre production of the 'arts' slideshow. The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra has supported the project with 'background' music for each of the slideshows.
