Marking Conservation Areas

Leaf plate 3 Kensington Park

To assist in the protection of our native flora and fauna The City of Burnside is marking areas managed for conservation in both urban reserves and its hills face reserves.

This system was originally developed by the Local Government Biodiversity Network (LGBN) made up of staff from local councils, and has been further developed by City of Burnside.

Within Conservation Sites, you may also see blue pin markers or blue topped stakes, these denote important indigenous plants or internal boundaries for management of key plant populations for our staff and biodiversity contractors.

Conservation site marker plates

Conservation site marker plates are used at reserve and trail entry points. They show the site name and a unique code (suburb abbreviation + number).
