The Burnside Library provides access to a large range of online databases including newspapers, magazines, ebooks and audio books. Many of these databases have dedicated app which can be downloaded via your device's respective app store.

Formerly known as Zinio, RBdigital gives you free online access to over 400 magazine titles. All you need is your Library Card Number to create a new RBdigital account.

Comics Plus brings unlimited access to thousands of digital graphic novels and comics.

Transparent Languages

An Australian monthly magazine dedicated to books and reading, for adults and children.

Choice Online

Get free access to thousands of products reviews and comparisons from Choice magazine's online database.

Ancestry Library Edition

The Ancestry Library Edition electronic resource is now available to patrons within the library. Ancestry is a database aimed at those doing genealogy. There are more than 4000 databases and 1.5 billion names!

Trove is the National Library's free search engine. It enables enquirers to:

  • Search the catalogues and find the holdings of libraries across Australia
  • Search and access the National Library's databases of digitised newspapers, archived websites, maps, pictures, photos and music and video files.
  • Tag, add comments and organise results.

Australian Dictionary of Biography
The Australian Dictionary of Biography is Australia's pre-eminent dictionary of national biography. In it you will find concise, informative and fascinating descriptions of the lives of significant and representative persons in Australian history.

SACommunity is a database of South Australian community services including information about government, non-government,community based and some private sector organisations that provide services for the South Australian community in the areas of health,welfare, housing, education, community participation, information, legal services, arts and recreation. Searches on the site can be limited to Burnside (or any other council area), or across all council areas.

Australian Bureau of Statistics
The Australian Bureau of Statistics website is committed to providing browsers with Australian statistical information. It also includes pages on ABS products and training, and information for small businesses and universities.

Commonwealth of Australia Law
ComLaw is the legal information retrieval system owned by the Australian Attorney-General's Department. ComLaw essentially brings low or no-cost access to the law for the community.

Carter's Antiques Price Guide
Carter's online price guide features of 90,000 art antiquities, antiques, collectables, retro, vintage and 20th century design. The guide is frequently updated and is indexed. Please note this is a price guide and not an online marketplace for antiques and collectables.
